ArcelorMittal's Magnelis® is an exceptional new metallic coating for steel. It guarantees effective surface protection against long-term wear.
Magnelis® combines the most important properties in a single coating: corrosion resistance is up to 10 times greater than that of galvanized steel. The material offers optimal resistance in particularly harsh and aggressive environments. In addition, it offers a competitive alternative to the post-galvanizing process
Magnelis® is available for a very wide range of steel qualities: steels for cold forming and stamping, structural steels and low-alloy and high-strength steels. As the Magnelis® metal coating has excellent adhesive properties, the metal can be processed and formed in all conceivable ways.
It is used for the most varied industrial applications: load-bearing structural elements, multi-storey car park platforms, sound insulation panels, hail protection walls or safety and protection equipment in road and rail transport. .
Although Magnelis® is produced on a conventional industrial hot-dip galvanizing line, it is immersed in a special molten bath, whose specific zinc metallic chemical composition contains 3.5% aluminum and 3% magnesium. These 3% of magnesium are essential. They allow the creation of a stable and durable layer on the entire surface and guarantee a more effective anti-corrosion protection than coatings with a lower magnesium content.
Compared to batch galvanized products and even high quality products, such as stainless steel or aluminum, Magnelis® offers a distinctive advantage: depending on the environment, Magnelis® has a coating weight of two to four times lower while providing better corrosion resistance.
As such, ArcelorMittal's Magnelis® offers significantly superior performance to other comparable solutions in Europe.
